Medical Secretaries Needed for the Emergency Department

The Emergency Department

Medical secretaries in somatic specialist care within the health and medical care administration are divided into two units:

• The unit for medical specialties/emergency department with a total of 22 employees, of which six work for the emergency department
• The unit for medical secretaries in surgical specialties/radiology with a total of 24 employees.

We are now looking for two medical secretaries for the emergency department.

Visby Hospital is one of Sweden's smallest emergency hospitals and the only one in Gotland. The emergency department receives patients of all ages within all medical and surgical specialties. The emergency department consists of a team of 40 nurses and nursing assistants, as well as doctors from other areas of the hospital.

Your Responsibilities

• Ongoing documentation in real-time or near real-time in a fast patient flow
• Registration of diagnoses and KVÅ codes based on often limited information
• Post and referral management
• Booking and calling of patients
• Cash register/economic administration, such as invoices and DRG basis
• Training support for colleagues in administrative systems
• Quality and development work related to healthcare administration
• Contact with patients, relatives, and partners

Working hours are scheduled with weekend and evening shifts. Placement near the reception at the emergency department is included in part of the working time.

Who Are You?

We are looking for someone who is a trained medical secretary. You have excellent documentation skills in Swedish and medical terminology and have good knowledge of Microsoft Office/M365. Previous experience in the profession is an advantage.

You have a good sense of service, see opportunities, are flexible, and can take your own initiatives. You prioritize and organize your work independently but also have good teamwork skills. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
